This journal is going to be for my personal use. It's not for role-play, or character development. It's for me, Crystal. A lot of my friends on here will be linked through their role-play or development journals, which is fine. I have one of those too, at champayndreams on Insane Journal.
From here on out, this journal will be FRIENDS ONLY. Please comment here to be added.
I love you if you do :-)

I heard about this from
wofl_iron and it's so important that I'm posting about it. No, it's not a meme. It's a call to all those out there who are willing and able to take a few hours out of a Saturday to stand up for everyone's right to marry THE ONE THEY LOVE, be they MALE or FEMALE.

On November 15th, people around the country will be gathering at their designated location in protest of the voting results of Prop 8. Now, I'm the first to say that if you didn't vote, you have no right to complain. However, that's mainly when it comes to the presidential election. I have come to discover that there are people out there who DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO VOTE.
Convicted Felons-While I believe that they should not have the right to vote, I do believe that they have the right to marry someone they love, be they of the same sex.
Un-Naturalized Citizens-It costs $300 to become a naturalized citizen. The average immigrant is in the working class, and can't afford that. However, they pay taxes, have legal jobs, and raise children who, by birth, ARE citizens of the USA. I believe that they, too, have the right to marry anyone.
Say you just moved to California (or NY, FL, AZ, etc), and it was after the registration deadline. Or you just turned 18, two days before November 4th, and you're gay. You couldn't vote for Prop 8, because it was too late to register. And yet, the government is telling you that you can not legally marry your fiancee'.
So this is why I think it's extremely important to join this protest. November 15th, at 10:30amPST/1:30pmEST. The above site has a link to all the locations-hopefully, there's somewhere near you.
Thank you.

For those who haven't heard, Andy Hallet passed away last night at the age of 33, from heart failure.
Here's my humble tribute. I'm not friends-locking this entry.
